This store is located in a shopping mall close to Tokyo's Daikanyama Station. "White" was the design concept sought here as a way to best show the beauty of the materials chosen for the store, which are already of a high level of design. Jamo's aim was to create an interior with a strong visual impact by using the carefully chosen materials over as large an expanse as possible. The 162 fluorescent bulbs covering the ceiling serve an important role in the expression of the interior's whiteness. With the idea of lighting brighter than that in a convenience store the sense of tension that exists in pure whiteness is emphasized. The juxtaposition of contrasting materials such as marble floors together with walls made of reclaimed barn timbers, contemporary designs with antiques, and natural with artificial materials casually plays with ideas of "truth vs. lies" and "real vs. fake". The LED clock behind the cash/wrap area and Dutch artist Matthias Aron Megyer's animal-themed fence and heart-shaped chains express an awareness of time and eras both modern and classic.
